Watch “McGill State of Mind” on youtube.
“It wasn’t a cover song, it wasn’t just changing the words”, Executive Director and lead vocalist Trip Yang states in regards to his newest project “McGill State of Mind.” The video, which was inspired by Jay Z’s song, “Empire State of Mind,” is a snap shot into what a McGill student’s life is like; from cheering on the home team at Molson to grabbing a few drinks at BDA to watching Urban Groove go all out on the steps.
The video, both in terms of its footage and lyrics, truly resonates with the McGill students’ passion and excitement to be at such a great place. The video captures this energy and asks students to get more involved in campus life and to inspire them to try all the wonderful opportunities McGill fosters.
Shot in over thirty locations, and filmed in collaboration with over forty students groups on campus ranging from a number of faculties, there’s a pretty good chance you will recognize someone you know (you may even spot yourself)!
