NYSE To Close Its Trading Floor
28 Oct, 2012
BREAKING – As Hurricane Sandy approaches the US East Coast, numerous academic institutions and government offices are declared to shut down. However, highly unexpectedly, in its first weather-related closure in 27 years, the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) said it would close its trading floor on Monday.
Hurricane Gloria, on Sept. 27, 1985, was the last time weather shut U.S. equities markets for an entire day. All NYSE-listed securities will trade on NYSE Arca, the company’s fully electronic exchange until further notice, the NYSE said in a statement.
